Ron explains the spelling of his last name: Although my original family surname spelling is Ferranti, my birth certificate actually had it misspelled as Ferrante. Despite that, for years I used Ferranti until 1975 when my daughter was born. Like her dad's, her birth certificate also had the surname as Ferrante. Before correcting the error, I talked it over with my wife and we decided we liked the Ferrante spelling more so rather than changing our daughter's records, we changed ours. The only downside to that has been numerous mispronunciations by other people, mainly as "FER-ON-TAY" instead of the correct "FER-AN-TEE." Can't win 'em all.

This is Ron Ferrante, with his wife Alice, of Sunnyvale, CA. Ron and Joe Hayden have been the closest of cyber-buddies ever since Joe got back in touch with my father's side of the family, something that was done by a fluke. Among Joe's father's papers when he died was an invitation to his great-aunt's birthday party. Joe called the number and found out that the great-aunt was deceased, but got her daughter, Kathleen Irish Hicks, who put Joe in touch with her mother's surviving twin sister, Aunt Pauline, who is Ron's mother. When Joe wrote her a postal letter to Aunt Pauline and her family, Ron noticed Joe's email address on the letterhead and the rest is history! (Photo taken 29-Nov-96 in Cottonwood, California.)
